Welcome to Craighead Beringia South

Craighead Beringia South is a non-profit science and education institute located in Kelly, Wyoming, situated on the north bank of the Gros Ventre river, ten miles from the confluence with the Snake River in the heart of Grand Teton National Park.  As a private, non-profit (501[c]3) organization, it is supported by the private sector, and its unique research approach affords flexibility, continuity and a creative intellectual environment.

The mission of Craighead Beringia South is to contribute new knowledge toward improving the management and conservation of our natural environment by pursuing innovative, long-term field investigations on key ecosystem components upon which all life depends.

What's New

In light of the recent warranted, but precluded decision by the USFWS for sage grouse as an endangered species, Craighead Beringia South's sage grouse project was featured on Yahoo News and Assignment Earth.

Beringia South biologists spent an evening in the field with the Assignment Earth's film crew trying to capture male grouse for our studies on movements and population size in Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park.
